Events: Florida poet laureate Peter Meinke to sign children's book

Florida poet laureate Peter Meinke and his wife, Jeanne Meinke, will sign their new children's book, The Elf Poem, at 2 p.m. Dec. 6 at Haslam's Book Store, 2025 Central Ave., St. Petersburg.

Julianne DiBlasi Black (Sleep Sweet) will read from and sign her children's books at 2 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Dunedin Fine Art Center, 1143 Michigan Blvd.

The Tampa Bay History Center presents "Sangria & Stories: Maas Brothers, Of Course," with author Michael J. Lisicky (Remembering Maas Brothers) discussing his history of the Florida department store, at 6 p.m. Dec. 9 at the center, 801 Old Water St., Tampa. Admission: $17, members $12.

Molly Sinclair McCartney (America's War Machine: Vested Interests, Endless Conflicts) will discuss and sign the book she co-wrote with her late husband, James McCartney, at 2 p.m. Dec. 11 at Manatee County Central Library, 1301 Barcarotta Blvd., Bradenton.

Local authors William Valentine (Salt Creek Justice), Sam Black (Fatal Serum), Eugene Hodge (Resume, What's Its Purpose?), Maria DeVivo (The Coal Elf), Yael Eylat-Tanaka (Diet Proof Your Life), Sheryl Y. Battle-Maxwell (Say How You Feel), Rosane Gibson (Enlightenment Dance), Bobby Sherman (Magical Wings) and Jack Caldwell (Pemberley Ranch) will meet readers from 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 12 at Bloomingdale Regional Public Library, 1906 Bloomingdale Ave., Valrico.
