Events: Jack Gantos to discuss, sign his comic novel for young readers in Tampa

Jack Gantos (Dead End in Norvelt) will discuss and sign his comic novel for young readers at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Inkwood Books, 216 S Armenia Ave., Tampa.

Diana Abu-Jaber (Birds of Paradise) will discuss and sign her novel at a reception at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Bookstore1Sarasota, 1350 Main St., Sarasota; tickets are $30 and include a copy of the book and can be reserved at bookstore1sarasota.com. Abu-Jaber will also discuss and sign her book at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Inkwood Books in Tampa.

Susan Conley (The Foremost Good Fortune) will discuss and sign her memoir about moving her family to China only to discover she has breast cancer at 6 p.m. Friday at Inkwood Books in Tampa.

Applications are being accepted from book market vendors for the 2011 St. Petersburg Times Festival of Reading, which will take place Oct. 22 at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. For the application, go to festivalofreading.com.
