Tarpon Springs Cultural Center's Lunch and Learn series presents Tampa Bay Times environmental reporter Craig Pittman (The Scent of Scandal: Greed, Betrayal, and the World's Most Beautiful Orchid) discussing his book about orchid smuggling at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Heritage Museum, 100 Beekman Lane, Tarpon Springs. Tickets, which include lunch, are $17.

Author and vendor applications for the 21st annual Tampa Bay Times Festival of Reading, which will be held Oct. 26 at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg, are available at festivalofreading.com.
