Events: Terry Fortner to present program on 'Caladesi Memories'

The East Lake Community Library Author Showcase features Terry Fortner presenting the program "Caladesi Memories," based on her grandmother Myrtle Scharrer Betz's memoir Yesterday I Lived in Paradise, which will be available for sale, at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the library, 4125 East Lake Road, Palm Harbor.

Tampa author Paul Reyes (Exiles in Eden: Life Among the Ruins of Florida's Great Recession) will discuss and sign his book about the housing crash at 7 p.m. Thursday at Inkwood Books, 216 S Armenia Ave., Tampa.

Journalist Brett Friedlander (Chasing Moonlight: The True Story of Field of Dreams' Doc Graham) will sign his book at 3 p.m. Saturday at Haslam's Book Store, 2025 Central Ave., St. Petersburg.

Applications are being accepted from volunteers and book market vendors for the 2010 St. Petersburg Times Festival of Reading, Oct. 23 at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. For applications, go to
