Events: Tim Dorsey to appear at book signing-Serge Beer launch party in Tampa

Tampa author Tim Dorsey (Pineapple Grenade) will appear at a book signing and launch party for Serge Beer, named for his character Serge Storms, at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Mr. Dunderbak's, 14929 Bruce B. Downs Blvd., Tampa.

The Poynter Institute presents "Writing With Roy for Executives" from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday at Stetson University College of Law, 1700 N Tampa St., Tampa. The seminar features Poynter vice president and senior scholar Roy Peter Clark (Help! For Writers), guest faculty Paul Tash, chairman and CEO of Times Publishing Co., and Jill Geisler (Work Happy: What Great Bosses Know), Poynter senior faculty. Tampa author Enid Shomer (The Twelve Rooms of the Nile) will discuss and sign her historical novel about Gustave Flaubert and Florence Nightingale at 7 p.m. Thursday at Inkwood Books, 216 S Armenia Ave., Tampa.

Yellow Jacket Press will present a reading by J.D. Scott (Night Errands), winner of the 2012 Peter Meinke Prize for Poetry, at 7 p.m. Friday at Cafe Hey, 1540 N Franklin Ave., Tampa. Suggested donation $5.

Local authors Kathryne Arnold (The Fear of Things to Come), Anne O'Farrell (Going Home), Antonino Fabiano (Egmont Passage: Tale of the Seventh Mystery) and Laura Kehoe (Beach Cottage Chaos) will present a panel discussion at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Pete Beach Library, 365 73rd Ave.

Robert Macomber (Honorable Lies) will sign his latest Peter Wake nautical adventure novel at 3 p.m. Saturday at Haslam's Book Store, 2025 Central Ave., St. Petersburg.

Applications are being accepted for book market vendors and volunteers for the 2012 Tampa Bay Times Festival of Reading, which will take place Oct. 20 at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. Go to festivalofreading.com for applications.
