Notable | Not just for grownups

These three authors write bestselling books for adults, but their new books are for young readers.

My Baby Blue Jays (Viking) by John Berendt (Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil) is a charming story with photos about a pair of birds that build a nest and raise a family on the balcony outside the author's home office in New York; for ages 5 to 8.

Summer and the City: A Carrie Diaries Novel (Balzer & Bray) by Candace Bushnell (Sex and the City) is the second YA prequel novel about Carrie Bradshaw, this one set just after she graduates from high school and moves to New York City.

Theodore Boone: The Abduction (Dutton Juvenile) by John Grisham (The Confession) brings back the "kid lawyer" and amateur sleuth, Theo, who's searching for his best friend, April, after she disappears from her room in the middle of the night; for ages 9 to 12.
