Just in time for holiday gift-giving, Penguin has published beautifully designed new editions of several classic books.

Black Beauty by Anna Sewell is one of three paperbacks in the Penguin Threads series, with embossed embroiderylike covers by artist Jillian Tamaki. (Others are Emma and The Secret Garden.)

Exciting Food for Southern Types by Pellegrino Artusi, a colorful 19th century icon of Italian cooking, is one of nine petite paperbacks in the Penguin Great Foods series, with lively covers by designer-illustrator Coralie Bickford-Smith.

Tales of the Jazz Age by F. Scott Fitzgerald is one of three of the author's books (The Beautiful and the Damned and This Side of Paradise are the others, all marking the 70th anniversary of his death) from Penguin Classics Hardcover Editions, all with gorgeous foil-stamped art deco covers by Bickford-Smith.
