Mystery tour

In addition to page-turning mysteries, these books offer literary trips to European destinations.

The Dance of the Seagull (Penguin) by Andrea Camilleri is the latest in his series about the epicurean Sicilian police detective Salvo Montalbano, whose vacation is disrupted by the disappearance of his right-hand man.

Helsinki Blood (Putnam) by James Thompson, an American writer who has lived in Finland for years, features Inspector Kari Vaara, a former black-ops cop involved in a missing persons case — and the target of criminals himself.

Murder Below Montparnasse (Soho Crime) by Cara Black is the 13th in her series about Parisian private investigator Aimee Leduc, who becomes embroiled in a deadly art theft that may take her a step closer to finding her long-lost, possibly lethal mother.

Colette Bancroft, Times book editor
