Notable

Politics, by the book

With the election season gearing up, these books look at politics of the people, here and abroad.

The Gardens of Democracy: A New American Story of Citizenship, the Economy and the Role of Government (Sasquatch Books) by Eric Liu and Nick Hanauer argues that our long-established way of looking at the relationship between government and the market as a machine needs radical updating.

The Leaderless Revolution: How Ordinary People Will Take Power and Change Politics in the 21st Century (Blue Rider Press) by Carne Ross is a former British diplomat's take on how movements like Occupy Wall Street and the tea party are key to understanding and changing global politics.

Revolution 2.0: The Power of the People Is Greater Than the People in Power (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) by Wael Ghonim is a memoir by the Google executive who was swept up in the Tahrir Square protests, jailed and brutally interrogated by Egyptian security.
