With the St. Pete Pride Promenade and Street Festival coming up Saturday, here are three new books on LGBT issues.

Complete Gay & Lesbian Manners for Every Occasion (Workman) by Steven Petrow is the syndicated columnist's practical advice on best behavior for all sorts of situations: coming out, dating, marrying, working, parenting and more.

I Am J (Little, Brown) by Cris Beam is a moving YA novel about the struggles and triumphs of a transgender teenager.

It Gets Better: Coming Out, Overcoming Bullying, and Creating a Life Worth Living (Dutton), edited by Dan Savage and Terry Miller, grew out of a national video project in response to the suicides of young gay people in 2010; the book collects essays of support from famous people, gay and straight — politicians, performers, clergy, educators — as well as from LGBT youth.
