These recent winners of major book awards are now available in paperback.

The First Tycoon: The Epic Life of Cornelius Vanderbilt (Vintage) by T.J. Stiles is an epic, complex biography of the self-made American icon who invented modern capitalism; it won the National Book Award for biography.

The Good Soldiers (Picador) by David Finkel, winner of the J. Anthony Lukas Book Prize for excellence in nonfiction writing, is the harrowing, heart-stopping story of an infantry battalion in Baghdad during the surge, based on eight months the author spent with them.

Wolf Hall (Picador) by Hilary Mantel is a sweeping historical novel, set in the court of Henry VIII and focused on the king's extraordinary adviser Thomas Cromwell; it won both the Man Booker Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award for fiction.
