Road trip reading

Any of these new audiobooks from women who write one bestseller after another would make a fine traveling companion.

Insatiable (Harper Audio) by Meg Cabot is the Princess Diaries author's first foray into the sexy vampire genre, the tale of TV writer Meena Harper and the undead guy she sees a future with; Emily Bauer gives a lively performance.

Lowcountry Summer (Harper Audio) by Dorothea Benton Frank is a sequel to Plantation, with Caroline Wimbley Levine returning to Tall Pines in one of the author's trademark warmly humorous stories; Robin Miles gives it a rich read.

Sizzling Sixteen (MacMillan Audio) by Janet Evanovich is the latest adventure of intrepid New Jersey bounty hunter Stephanie Plum, who's scrambling to raise enough cash to pay off her boss Vinnie's gambling debts before a mobster disposes of him; Lorelei King does her usual sterling job of bringing the cast to life.
