What's Mike Nurrenbrock reading?

Although he's officially a numbers man, Mike Nurrenbrock, the budget director for Pasco County, is also into words. The self-proclaimed avid reader attributes that to his mother. "She taught me to read with phonics before I was in kindergarten, the 57-year-old said. "I remember her sending a note in with me to school, telling the teacher that I could read if I was given a chance to sound out the word. I've been reading ever since.''

What is on your nightstand?

Invisible Prey by John Sanford. I recently discovered his Prey series. I've also got Extreme Measures by Vince Flynn. I've read every book he's written.

What have you found in Flynn's writing that keeps you reading him?

Flynn writes the CIA type of thrillers. His main character is intriguing — Mitch Rapp. He works in counterterrorism. I think CIA type of thrillers are enjoyable to read.
