What's on Carl Kuttler's nightstand?

We caught up with Dr. Carl Kuttler, president of St. Petersburg College, during the final days of ''Vatican Splendors'' at Florida International Museum at SPC's Downtown Center. (The museum is closed temporarily due to finances.) He helped spearhead the initiative linking the museum to SPC.

What is on your nightstand?

Unstoppable: Finding Hidden Assets to Renew the Core and Fuel Profitable Growth by Chris Zook. It deals with the theory in bad times you can just condemn the darkness or you can start lighting candles.

When did you read this book?

Two months ago, I was talking to Steve Mason at BayCare, and he recommended it. . . . Zook gives examples of companies that looked within and used their own resources to become stronger. While some in the state simply condemn the darkness, we here want to keep lighting candles. I gave many people copies, and I plan to give out many more.
