What is on your nightstand?
Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed by Jared Diamond. He's full of facts that I use for my work. I appreciate his scientific approach. He looks at why some civilizations have prospered over time and why others have gone by the wayside.
I understand you're a member of the Thoreau Institute. Was Henry David Thoreau an early inspiration for you?
Absolutely. At a very young age I read Walden, and I was so impressed by the life he chose, to go into nature. I appreciate authors who write about their surroundings. One from your neck of the woods I'd like to mention is Carl Hiaasen. I've never met him, but I highly recommend his writing. He's a great one.
