What's on Valerie Bertinelli's nightstand?

Valerie Bertinelli is remembered by many from the TV series One Day At a Time (1975-84), and for her marriage to and divorce from rocker Eddie Van Halen. Bertinelli, 48, is now a Jenny Craig spokeswoman and bestselling author of Losing It: And Gaining My Life Back One Pound at a Time.

What is on your nightstand?

I've got a pile of books. I've got the book my book club just finished last night, I'm Looking Through You: Growing up Haunted by Jennifer Finney Boylan, Delizia! The Epic History of the Italians and Their Food by John Dickie, a Caroline Myss book and a Bible given to me by my boyfriend.

When you pick out books to read, what's important to you?

For my book club, I catch up with what people are reading, and it's important that it's something that will start a great discussion. . . . I always enjoy a bit of humor in drama. And, if you really are into fiction you can't go without Margaret Atwood. I know I can always rely on her.
