What is on your nightstand?
I'm just starting to read Lucky You by Carl Hiaasen. I'm reading his novels in chronological order.
Why do you think he's so popular?
He is an excellent writer with an unending supply of material. Florida is a very interesting place with a lot of unique characters. As a journalist, Hiaasen has seen the best and worst of Florida — as is also the case with Tim Dorsey — and I like the way he weaves that into his characters. Of course his sense of humor is great, and his work wouldn't be the same without his extensive knowledge.
