What's Tim Dorsey reading?

RECOMMENDED READING

Nightstand

Tim Dorsey

Before Dorsey, 53, introduced the world to his fictional Florida history buff and serial killer Serge A. Storms, he attended Auburn University, edited the college's student newspaper and went on to work as a reporter and editor at the Tampa Tribune. Since 1999, Dorsey has immersed himself in his crime-comedy series featuring the aforementioned Serge. In his most recent work, Tiger Shrimp Tango, Dorsey takes on Internet fraud and the sleazy world of scam artists. We caught up with the author by phone from his home in Tampa.

What's on your nightstand?

Ninety-two in the Shade by Thomas McGuane, my favorite Florida book. Yes, I'm re-reading it.

How many times do you think you've read it?

This is probably my fourth time. It's a book that is all about language and great writing. You can literally read a few pages and go "wow." You can read it like a book of poetry — just read a page or two for the language and the writing. It just inspires you.
