ESPN analyst Trent Dilfer, the Bucs' No. 1 draft pick in 1994, led the Ravens to a Super Bowl win when Tampa Bay played host in 2000. Although he wouldn't say who he wants to win today's big game, he was willing to reveal who he thinks will win: the Steelers. "I believe they're simply the better team,'' Dilfer said by phone from his California home.
What's on your nightstand?
I'm a multibook reader. I'm not sure when that happened, but I like going between several books at once. I've got A Walk in the Woods with Bill Bryson, Revolutionary Parenting by George Barna, Halftime: Changing Your Game Plan From Success to Significance by Bob Buford, and The Shack by William P. Young. . . . My kids and being a parent is everything to me, and reading books like Barna's really helps.
How did you choose The Shack?
A friend, Jackie Kendall (Christian minister and speaker), recommended it to us. My wife lost her brother a few weeks ago, and along with the loss of our son (Trevin Dilfer, 5, died of heart disease in 2003), it's hard. I'm still reading this book, and I've only been able to get to page 16 and then I start over. If you know the book, you know it's sad and can be tough, but I'll keep reading.
