If you've ever driven down Kennedy Boulevard just west of Dale Mabry, you may have spotted a blond mannequin (usually clad in a short, brightly colored dress) positioned curbside in front of a small shopping center.
I've dubbed this the official Jolie mascot — Jolie International being the name of the little boutique that supplies the mannequin with her Barbie-worthy wardrobe. The Tampa boutique, which opened in 2005, sells flirty, trendy tops, dresses, handbags, accessories, lingerie and swimsuits. Skewing toward a younger set, it's comparable to major chains like Bebe or Guess.
Store manager Rachel Roach says Jolie caters to people who want to dress young, fun and hip. "People like coming here because we have different stuff than what's in the malls," she said. "We get shipments every week, so there are always new things in the store."
Roach also mentions the benefit of not showing up somewhere and seeing other people dressed in the same mall-purchased outfit.
"We're moderately priced and we're constantly changing the styles to match the season," she said. "Right now, the big thing is embellishments and really bright colors."
If you need guidance of the latest trends, just drive by the Kennedy boutique — the mannequin will surely be wearing the chic fashions for spring.
