Among the countless groups of wonderful people who donate their time to help others is Needle Art Social of Palm Harbor. They knit lap robes for veterans who are in the hospital and for the patients of three area nursing homes, and they also make hats for women and children with cancer. They wrote in requesting yarn last year, and the group's representative, Carol Ann Hengeveld, said that due to the donations they received, they were able to provide items for everyone in the community. Now they are hoping to have that success again, so they are asking for donations of acrylic yarn (not wool). Another way to help is to participate, by making 8-inch squares with 20-inch tails that they will join together to make the lap robes. To donate materials or participate, please call Carol Ann at (727) 787-7027.

Faithful REXer Lucia Somers wrote in, and she's exasperated. She can't find homemade plum jelly anywhere, and she's hoping someone out there can tell her where she can find some. Lucie says she and her daughter have been craving it for 20 years, as her grandmother used to make her own, and it was oh so good! If you can help Lucie, please write to her at 1415 Main St., Lot 219, Dunedin, FL 34698.

Joan Bichsel of Clearwater is looking for something that would help her daughter greatly. Her daughter is on disability and doesn't have a car, so she walks everywhere. This makes carrying groceries home difficult, so Joan is hoping to find a portable rolling cart that is suitable for carrying groceries. Joan can be reached at (727) 531-9453.

Patricia Fredrickson of Spring Hill is looking for buttons of any kind. She makes clothes for her great-grandchildren, whose mothers are single and trying to make it on their own. Patricia is on a fixed income herself, and can buy the material on sale, but the buttons are the most expensive part of the garments. If you have some buttons that you would be willing to donate to Patricia, please call her at (352) 666-0167.

Florence Grisi of New Port Richey wrote in a while back asking for Legos that her great-grandson needed for his Boy Scout troop. She wanted to thank everyone who donated them, and she says the troop is really enjoying them. Now Florence has something that she would like to donate. She has many cooking magazines for the taking, as long as they are picked up. Florence can be reached at (727) 376-2705.
Carl had written in asking for a treadmill for his dog, Mickey. He needed the treadmill because Mickey needs a lot of exercise and Carl can't always take him out for as long as he needs to go. Carl wrote in to thank Dixie of Spring Hill for giving them a treadmill, and says that he and Mickey are so thankful.
