Reader's Exchange: Dog buggy looking for rider, owner

Wendy of Seminole has an offer for a deserving dog owner. Sadly, her miniature poodle of 14 years recently died of heart failure. Wendy had purchased a doggy carriage, which gave him mobility and the opportunity to go on walks without the strain on his heart. Now that her dog is gone, she would like to pass the buggy on to another dog and owner that need it, preferably someone older who might not be able to afford the expense of purchasing one.

The buggy is for a medium- to small-size dog, is in new condition and is navy blue. There is a restraining strap, it has a sunshade and it can be zipped several ways. It also folds for storage.

Wendy will take calls between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. today, making note of phone numbers and details. Then she will call the new owner on Friday to arrange pickup or delivery. Wendy can be reached at (727) 393-9472.

Can anyone help a young man make the most of a musical talent? David, who's 11, is a student in the gifted program at Meadowlawn Middle School in St. Petersburg. He also is in Boy Scouts at Holy Family Catholic Church. For the past two years, David has been taking piano lessons. He uses an electric keyboard, which is a hand-me-down, and as he progresses in his lessons, he's finding it has lots of problems. David says the pedals don't work and the notes are off key. He also says there is too much push-back on the keys and it really just doesn't sound like a real piano.

He would use his grandma's real piano, but she lives too far away. David is hoping that someone out there may have a piano they are no longer using and would be willing to donate so that he can continue his piano lessons. If you can help David, please call (727) 577-1985.

Back in October, Evelyn of Sun City Center wrote in looking for succulent plants for the terrariums she is creating. She already has quite a few succulents, but she would like to have "baby necklace" and "hens and chicks," and would be willing to share any of the ones she has in exchange. She did receive some calls, and would like to thank all those who called, but the people who called lived too far away. She is hoping that someone in the Sun City Center area will have succulent plants to share. If you do, please call Evelyn at (813) 649-4218.
