Reader's Exchange: Grab your used greeting cards, craft supplies

Happy Thanksgiving! The Reader's Exchange is so fortunate to be in the position to help people find the things they are looking for, and also to help the groups that do good work for others. The Maine Knitters is a group that knits warm clothes for children in Abington, Mass. The group was formed seven years ago from a request that Peggy Fortner wrote in to the Reader's Exchange. She was looking for others to join her in knitting these items, and now she has a large group. The group used to donate to children in Maine and now donates to the underprivileged children in Abington. This year the group was able to send 50 hat and mitten sets, 218 hats, 94 sets of mittens and some scarf and hats and scarf and mitten sets. FedEx is kind enough to ship the items for free. The Maine Knitters will meet next in March in Seminole. To join the group, please call Peggy at (813) 715-7133 or email her at fortner33541@verizon.net.

Jeanne Fuller of Seminole wrote in a few weeks ago offering art slides that she thought would be great for an art class. She was right; she had several calls for them, and ultimately they went to a teacher at Ringling School of Art. Now Jeanne has another offering she hopes will be just as successful. With an Egyptian exhibit opening next month at the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, Jeanne thought a college art teacher would find use for two 45-minute slide shows with her lecture notes: "Understanding or Reading Egyptian Art" and "Jewelry from the Land of the Pharaohs." These are museum-quality slides and the lectures are carefully researched by a museum-trained tour guide. Jeanne can be reached at (727) 391-1238 or by email at fullerfam2@msn.com.
