Reader's Exchange: Please send your postcards her way

Last spring, Jeanne Canton of Pinellas Park used REX to build up her collection of postcards from every state in the nation. She received a wonderful response, and now she is hoping to get that same response again. Jeanne wrote a clever poem that sums up her request:

"Halloween is over and Thanksgiving too.

Christmas is a-coming and New Year's will be cool.

Then, my 79th birthday is on New Year's Eve.

I'll blow a candle on a cupcake and think of all of you,

With wishes for a happy holiday and great New Year too."

The one wish Jeanne has for herself is more postcards. She says it was a thrill to receive so many beautiful postcards in the past, and she's hoping to receive more of the scenic ones: those that depict historic landmarks, cities and towns, lighthouses, covered bridges, winter scenes, etc. Jeanne says she may be 79, but she's never too old to stop collecting. If you would like to help Jeanne celebrate her birthday by sending her a postcard, it can be mailed to Jeanne Cantor, Magnolia Gardens ALF, 3800 62nd Ave. N, Apt. 229, Pinellas Park, FL 33781.

Margaret of Palm Harbor would like to weave some belts and guitar straps, so she is hoping to find an Inkle weaving loom that she could use. She's also looking for shuttles, books and yarn for an Inkle weaving loom. If you have any or all of these items to give to Margaret, please call her at (727) 784-4297.

Deanna of Palm Harbor has two televisions she doesn't need. One is a 32-inch Toshiba table model that works well and will receive cable HD programming. It is not a flat-screen TV. The other is a 27-inch RCA console in a nice oak cabinet. The TV doesn't work, as it gets slanty lines, but is good for someone who likes to tinker with old TVs or who wants to use the cabinet for something else. If you are interested, the televisions must be picked up. Deanna can be reached via email at
