Reader's Exchange: Supplies needed for cardiac patients' cough pillows

Published Feb. 1, 2012

February is American Heart Month, and what better way to commemorate it than to recognize Mended Hearts Chapter 43 of St. Petersburg, which meets at Bayfront Medical Center. The support group for cardiac patients visits families and new patients during a very emotional and trying time. One of the group's projects is to supply patients with a cough pillow, which relieves pain when it is held to the chest during a cough. The pillow is very hard and made with a special filling. The nonprofit group, which exists on donations, is looking for material for the outsides of the cough pillows. The group needs plain white, and prints of red or red and white, and recommends broadcloth or muslin. If you would like to donate materials, please call Marcella at (727) 525-2341 to arrange for pickup.
