Reader's Exchange: 'Ugly Stick' supplies sought

On a recent vacation to Newfoundland, Florence Olynik of Spring Hill was introduced to the "Ugly Stick" (a homemade musical instrument). She had so much fun playing it, she has decided to make her own. In order to make it, Florence needs a large number of metal beer bottle caps. She is also looking for one boot, which could be rubber or leather, or even a child's. Florence can be reached at (352) 596-1452.

Carol's dear friend recently moved out of town because she was no longer able to live on her own and wanted to be near her children. She had to leave behind her beloved Craftmatic bed, which had been a source of comfort from her painful fibromyalgia. The bed had to stay put because no one was able to move it due to its size, and because it was in one piece. Carol and her family would now like to try to move the bed for the friend. They have tried to no avail to learn the methods one might use to take the bed apart for transport and to reassemble it upon arrival at her home. Carol hopes someone out there knows about these beds with electric platforms. She tried the manufacturer and online sources, but they all speak to repair and replacement parts but not how to make the bed small enough to move. If you can help Carol, please email her at [email protected]

Erica of Spring Hill has been recording and filming her old 8mm and Super8 movies, but now the bulb on her projector has burned out and she can't find a replacement. Erica would like to find a bulb for the Eumig Mark -500E projector, which takes a Vario-Eupronet 1.6/17-30 bulb. If she cannot find the bulb, she would like to request a donation of another projector. She can be reached at (352) 688-2616.
