Peanut butter products

Why? The Food and Drug Administration is urging consumers to continue watching recalls lists for products with peanut butter. Some products have been linked to salmonella contamination. Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.

What to do? Visit www.fda.gov for updated recalls of specific products and www.cdc.gov/ salmonella/typhimurium/#advice for information and advice.

Certain pistachios

Company: Various companies.

Quantity: All.

Why? The products may be contaminated with salmonella. Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems

What models? Because the pistachios were used as ingredients in a variety of foods, it is likely this recall will impact many products.

General Motors vehicles

Company: General Motors Corp.

Quantity: 1,497,516.

Why? Some of the vehicles have a flaw that allows engine oil to drop on the exhaust manifold when braking hard, which could lead to an engine compartment fire.

What models? 1997-2003 Buick Regals; 1998-2003 Chevrolet Luminas, Monte Carlos and Impalas; 1998-1999 Oldsmobile Intrigues; 1997-2003 Pontiac Grand Prixs with the 3.8-liter, V6 naturally aspirated engine.

Old Cape Cod grilling sauce

Company: Old Cape Cod Foods.

Why? The product contains trace amounts of an undeclared seafood allergen, anchovy. Those who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to seafood allergen run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product.

What models? Old Cape Cod Sweet & Bold Grilling Sauce 15.5-ounce glass bottles with UPC code 90997-60100 and 23.2-ounce plastic squeeze bottle with UPC code 90997-61020.

Kidde XL fire extinguishers

Why? The pressurized cylinders in the fire extinguishers could lose pressure and fail to operate.

What models? Kidde XL fire extinguishers with model numbers FX340SC, FX340H, FX340GW, XL5MR, FX210R, FX340SC-2, FX210W, XL2.5TCZ-4 and E-340-3 and with manufacture dates between October 2007 and April 2008.

Why? The chicken base products do not meet poultry products inspection or poultry exemption requirements.

CARS fleece clog children's shoes

Company: Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

Why? The shoe has four decorative wheels that can detach, posing a choking hazard.

What models? The Buster Brown & Co. "CARS" fleece clog children's shoes. The shoe is a red plastic molded clog with fleece lining and is designed to resemble a car. They were sold in infant sizes 4 to 6 and toddler sizes 7 to 11. The infant-size shoes have a strap in the back. Each side of the shoe has two red and black decorative wheels and the number "95." "Buster Brown & Co." and "Disney" are printed on a tag sewn inside the shoe.
