Toyota vehicles

Company: Toyota Motor Co.

Quantity: 2.5 million.

Why? The driver-side power window switch can stick, smoke and potentially cause a fire.

What models? 2007-2008 Yaris, 2007-2009 RAV4, 2007-2009 Tundra, 2007-2009 Camry and Camry hybrid, 2008-2009 Scio xD and xA, 2008-2009 Sequoia, 2008 Highlander

and Highlander Hybrid, 2009 Corolla and 2009 Matrix.

Steroids used for back pain

Company: New England Compounding Center.

Quantity: All.

Why? These lots have been associated with a non-contagious fungal meningitis outbreak that has killed at least 12 people.

What models? All New England Compounding Center products distributed since January 2012. This includes three contaminated lots of methylprednisolone acetate labeled [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected]

Where sold? Through pain clinics in more than 20 states, including Florida. The steroids were administered at the following locations: Florida Pain Clinic, Marion Pain Management Center and Surgery Center in Ocala; Orlando Center for Outpatient Surgery; Pain Consultants of West Florida in Pensacola; and Surgical Park Center in Miami.

Why? The driver-side power window switch may fail or melt. If it does it could overheat, smoke and cause a fire even if the vehicle is not in use.

Why? The high chair's seat can loosen or detach from the base, posing a fall hazard to the child.

Why? A thin layer of plastic film from the package may remain adhered to the product after unwrapping. If the film sticks to the cheese and is not removed, it could cause a choking hazard.

What models? Kraft String Cheese, jalapeno variety, in the 12-ounce bags, a use-by date of Nov. 23, 2012, and a UPC number 2100002977.

Whole Foods' ricotta salata

Company: Whole Foods Market.

Quantity: Undisclosed.

Why? The product could be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.

What models? The Ricotta Salata Frescolina brand cheese was cut into wedges, packaged in clear plastic wrap and sold with a Whole Foods Market scale label using PLU 293427. All sell-by dates through Oct. 2 are affected.

Dodge Dakota, Ram 1500

Company: Chrysler Group LLC.

Why? A rear axle pinion nut may loosen due to a lack of adhesive, which could cause the axle to lock up and the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

What models? 2009-2010 Dodge Dakota and Ram 1500.

XL Foods Canadian beef

Company: XL Foods.

Quantity: 2.5 million pounds. This is an expansion of a previous recall.

Why? Some of the beef may be contaminated with E.coli O157:H7, a potentially deadly bacterium that can cause bloody diarrhea, dehydration and in the most severe cases, kidney failure.

What models? All XL Foods beef and beef products produced on Aug. 24, 27, 28, 29 and Sept. 5.

Lactated Ringer's, 5% dextrose injection

Why? A leak could occur in the primary container between the cobra cap and fill-tube seal, allowing a spore-like structured particulate, consistent with mold, to form. If contaminated solution is used on a patient, critical patient harm may result.

Why? Due to a manufacturing error, the engine oil pump's driveshaft could separate from the rotor. That could lead to a sudden loss of oil pressure causing the possibility of complete engine failure, resulting in an engine stall-like condition.
