Dane Cook headlines arenas. That's what Dane Cook does, because Dane Cook is at the top of the standup comedy food chain. But what if, instead of arenas, Dane Cook headlined sheds? Could a comic headline an outdoor amphitheater?

We'll find out on Oct. 24, when Cook is slated to headline the 1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheatre in Tampa. According to Live Nation, tickets are $35-$90.45, and they go on sale Friday.

This is part of a four-date swing through Florida; Cook is also performing in West Palm Beach, Tallahassee and Gainesville.

One thing we comedy fans must insist on: Cook must, absolutely MUST, write a 15-minute bit on the name "1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheatre." Call us, Dane, we'll help you write it. It'll kill in this town.

Halloween at Jannus Live

Jannus Live has loaded up on concerts for its first-ever Halloween weekend under new ownership.

Rusted Root, which played a free concert for a packed house this spring, will return to Jannus Live on Oct. 28, the venue announced Tuesday. Tickets are $15 in advance.

And then, in keeping with Jannus Live's desire to book as many top hip-hop acts as possible, Method Man and Redman will take the stage on Oct. 29. Tickets are $18.50 in advance.

Throw in the Script, which is scheduled to perform at Jannus on Oct. 30, and you're looking at a fang-tastic, spook-tacular, vamped-up weekend of music.

We will pay $50 cash money to any of these artists if they cover Monster Mash.

VH1 announces lineup for '11 cruise

VH1 has announced its lineup for its 2011 Best Cruise Ever, which departs from Tampa for Cozumel on April 28, 2011.

In addition to returning favorite Lifehouse, Train, Colbie Caillat, the Script and Mat Kearney are among the big names on the cruise. Safetysuit, Alpha Rev, Civil Twilight, One eskimO, Trailer Park Ninjas and Thriving Ivory will round out the bill.

And if you're not into cruising, take note: In some cases, artists on the bill for these shows end up playing a gig in Tampa right before they leave. It happened last summer with Lifehouse at the Ritz Ybor.

The cruise leaves from Tampa on April 28 and returns on May 2. Packages go on sale Sept. 23 and start at $799. Go to vh1bestcruiseever.com for more info.
