Discovery Cove has announced that its newest attraction, Grand Reef, will open June 10. Visitors to the new attraction will be able to snorkel with rays, swim with schools of tropical fish or watch sharks from underwater. The reef area significantly expands the resortlike park, the first in Orlando that allowed visitors to swim alongside dolphins. Visitors who don't want to get wet can look at the sea life from elevated walkways over the pool or lounge on the beach. The Grand Reef will replace the existing, smaller reef area. That will be closed and turned into a yet-to-be-announced experience in 2012. If you're considering heading over this summer, remember that the park caps attendance at about 1,000 per day, so reservations are highly recommended. Find out more at discoverycove.com.
