Thursday's TipSheet

5 things to put on your radar: Free fair admission, a Cheetah update, meet a reality TV Rambo, a concert on the beach and our daily deal

As the Florida State Fair winds down, Thursday would be a good day to plan a visit because you can get in free after 4 p.m. They're also having another senior day, with $6 admission for those 55 and older. Before you go, you might want to read this hilarious story chronicling an epic "snackdown" between high school students.

Busch Gardens has scheduled a media preview day to show off the progress on its new Cheetah Hunt launch coaster. The green and yellow rails have been rising through the old Clydesdale compound for some time now. Expect some new footage and an online story or two about this highly anticipated thrill ride.

You're excused if you haven't heard of a Discovery Channel reality show called Out of the Wild. But now you have an excuse to watch: A Tarpon Springs native is on Thursday's season premier (at 10 p.m.), which follows a group of brave adventurers as they try to make their way to civilization after being dropped on top of a Venezuelan mountain. Nick Albini, who also is an Iraq war veteran, will be at the Pappas Ranch in Clearwater (2630 Gulf to Bay Blvd.) at a premier party Thursday night to celebrate his participation on the show.

With spring break fast approaching, you might hear the words "Sunset Beach" and envision crowds, partiers and parking headaches. Relax, this is the northern outpost version just off Tarpon Springs, with a laid-back vibe. They're having a free beach concert with the Rockaways doing a "Live and Let Die" Beatles tribute show. A bonus: Show the folks at the concession stand a Beatles item (shirt, hat, etc.) and you'll get a free bag of popcorn. It starts at 7 p.m. at 214 Shore Drive.

Our deal of the day would make a perfect gift for someone, especially with this gorgeous weather: Get a one-hour hot-air balloon ride with breakfast buffet, a $279.99 value, for just $129 at Sportations.
