Area events: Annual 10K run steps off tonight


Nighttime run: The 29th Annual Kiwanis Morton Plant Mease Midnight 10K Run will kick off with a 1-mile run/walk at 11 p.m. and a 5K run at 11:25 p.m. Thursday July 3, and a Midnight 10K run at 12:15 a.m. Friday, July 4. Gates open at 6 p.m. this evening for a free concert and fireworks at Knology Park, 373 Douglas Ave., Dunedin, featuring music at 7 p.m. and a fireworks display at 9:30. Food and beverages available for purchase, no coolers, pets or personal fireworks. Call (727) 812-4531

Summer fun flicks: Watch a family-friendly movie on the 20-foot screen in the auditorium of the Largo Community Center, 65 Fourth St. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Movie times are 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Call (727) 518-3131.

Plumb House Museum: Tour the historic Plumb House Museum, an original Cracker-style house built in 1896. It houses period furnishings, vintage photographic collections and artifacts. The Clearwater Historical Society offers free tours on the first and third Thursdays of the month from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. The two-story wood house is at 1380 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., Clearwater. Coin show: Buy, sell or have coins appraised at the Clearwater Coin Show, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Harborview Center, 300 Cleveland St., Clearwater. Free. Call (727) 531-7774.

Beach concert: Celebrate the end of day with arts, crafts and entertainment at Sunsets at Pier 60, Clearwater Beach and hear a variety of music nightly. Event begins two hours before sunset, ends two hours after, weather permitting. Call (727) 449-1036.


Ride the rails: Kids and adults can experience large-scale model railroading and the hobby of live steam firsthand with a ride on the Largo Central Railroad. There are approximately 1.2 miles of main line track with numerous passing sidings running through beautifully landscaped Largo Central Park, 101 Central Park Drive.
