CONCERTS: It's no secret: Smart people love alt-country rockers Wilco. Hope you were smart enough to get tickets early to the sold-out show Tuesday at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. If not, check out country singer Rodney Atkins at 7 p.m. Friday at the Dallas Bull in Tampa. $9.95, but a ride on the bull will cost extra; (813) 987-2855. Jannus Live: The totally renovated St. Petersburg concert spot once known as Jannus Landing officially reopens at 7 p.m. Thursday with free music by the Greg Billings Band and others (it's also a Grand Prix party). 38 Special is there 8 p.m. Friday and Gretchen Wilson is 8 p.m. Saturday. jan nuslive.com.

Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg: Keep an eye out for your fave drivers (Dario Franchitti and perhaps his movie star wife, Ashley Judd, Danica Patrick, Dan Wheldon, Helio Castroneves) as the annual race whips through the city's waterfront streets. Events start Friday leading up to the big race at 3:45 p.m. Sunday, and prices range from $10 one-day junior tickets up to $110 for a three-day ticket with reserved seating. KIDS & FAMILY

Cirque Dreams Illumination: The latest show to combine tumblers, aerial artists, contortionists, jugglers and clowns hits the bay area. mWild things: Get your chores done early Saturday and head out to Al Lopez Park in Tampa for a free showing of the wonderful kids movie Where the Wild Things Are. It'll be shown on a 40-foot inflatable screen. Gates open at 5:45 p.m., and the movie starts at 7:45. Call (813) 274-8615.

Best fests around: Several larger free events are scattered around the bay area this coming weekend: the Clearwater Pet Festival downtown, the Kite Fest in Apollo Beach at the nature park (free kites for kids!) and the Chasco Boat Parade in New Port Richey.
