To do today

Kid Koala Master multitasker Eric San, a.k.a. Kid Koala, brings a lighthearted touch to the DJ booth, with funny samples on top of cheery hip-hop, rock, swing and more. That explains why he opened for Radiohead, the Beastie Boys and Bjork. He plays tonight with DJ Jester the Filipino Fist, Blac Soap, Kush Wonder, Positive Response, Business Casual and Mega at 9 p.m. at Crowbar, 1812 N 17th St., Ybor City. $10-$12. (813) 241-8600.

John Valby (Dr. Dirty) This classically trained pianist sings dirty ditties, yells obscenities at the audience and satirizes current events. Tell your mom you are going to a piano recital at 8:30 tonight at Side Splitters Comedy Club, 12938 N Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa. $20-$27. (813) 960-1197. sidesplitterscomedy.com.

The Lion King The Broadway Lion leaps tonight for a six-week run at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. See the drama and beauty of the African savannah at 7:30. Tickets are $48-$133. (813) 229-7827. tbpac.org.

Sweets and Treats for Mom Get some desserts from Vinoy chef Thomas Kern and find some wines to pair with it for Mother's Day from 5 to 8 tonight at VINO 100, 5056 Fourth St. N, St. Petersburg. Free. (727) 522-8466.

Charity fundraiser Event planner and party maven Brooke Palmer is holding a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in her quest for the 2008 Suncoast Woman of the Year (the one who raises the most). Hosted by Tampa Bay Buccaneer Ryan Nece, the party at 717 South restaurant starting at 8 tonight will offer a $1 Absolut Martini with a donation, appetizers, silent auction items and entertainment. Donations of $25 or more suggested at the door at 717 S Howard Ave. in Tampa.
