Bay area barbers clip and snip radical fades for prize money
TAMPA — On Sunday evening, four barbers from the Tampa Bay area competed in the first Battle of the Barbers in various hairstyling categories such as the fastest fade, most creative cut, best graphics, best women's cut and total look.

"I am impressed by their artistry because we didn't have a chance to do that in the '70s, back then hairstyles were very military or hippie like" said Caterina Vanella, 60, of St. Petersburg, a judge of the competition. "They have taken their art form and combined it with haircutting so every haircut that comes out of the barber's chair is a piece of art."
