Two big-name acts have been announced for Busch Gardens' first grad night for 12th-graders in April.
American pop rock band Cobra Starship and comedian Gabriel Iglesias will be entertaining the high schoolers at the attraction on April 27. The park announced it was starting the grad night after Disney World announced earlier this year that it would be ending the tradition after 39 years.
Cobra Starship, formed in 2005, released their fourth album, Night Shades, in August 2011. The band is best known for their Top 40 hit, Good Girls Gone Bad.
Gabriel Iglesias is known as the "fluffy" comic in a Hawaiian shirt who coined the saying, "I'm not fat… I'm fluffy." Gabriel hosts Comedy Central's newest TV series, Gabriel Iglesias Presents Stand-Up Revolution. His credits also include Last Comic Standing, Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Family Guy.
In addition to the acts, graduation seniors can ride many of Busch's coasters in the dark and jam to DJs and dance parties in the streets of the theme park.
Individual tickets won't be sold, though. Like at its Disney predecessor, seniors will be able to get into Busch Gardens Grad Night only if they've come with a bus trip. The price is $54.99 and the hours are 7 p.m. until 2 a.m. A free chaperone ticket will be given for every 10 ticketed students. For reservations, email email@example.com or call 1-866-781-1333
Eighth-graders will still have their own Grad Night on May 4, with the park closing at midnight.
And if seniors still want to get out of Tampa Bay, they can hit Universal Studios. Grad Bash and Gradventure are two separate events held in April and May at the park.
Grad Bash is an event for graduating high school senior classes who can gather for an all-night party. Headliners this year include PitBull and DJ DJ Khaled. Grad Bash will be held for five nights in 2012.
Gradventure is similar, but is designed for junior high/middle school graduating students.
