A big part of the annual Chasco Fiesta in downtown New Port Richey is the nightly live entertainment on the Sims Park amphitheater stage.
In fact, because each night is targeted to a special audience, entertainment is what draws thousands of people who might not otherwise attend the festival.
Over the years, entertainment chairman Chuck Grey has repeatedly elevated the caliber of performers and managed to sign top acts like the late Bo Diddley, as well as many acts that were on their way to the top by the time they did their Chasco gigs: Rascal Flatts, Lonestar, BlackHawk, Riccochet, Joe Diffie and Phil Vassar, to name a few.
This year looks to be the same, with well-known acts for 10 straight nights, culminating with the Country Concert on March 28 with headliners Jimmy Wayne (Do You Believe Me Now; I Will; Stay Gone) and Jason Michael Carroll (Livin' Our Love Song; I Can Sleep When I'm Dead; Where I'm From), and opening acts Wiley Fox and 11-year-old singer/songwriter Suite Caroline (be sure to arrive on time to see her — she's predicted to be the next Taylor Swift).
