Chasco Fiesta will get feet moving

NEW PORT RICHEY — Toes will be tapping and feet moving when Dancing Under the Stars takes the stage in Sims Park as Chasco Fiesta continues today.

The evening includes a live band, dancers and a dance competition among members of the audience.

The Native American Festival, carnival and food vendors will continue, along with other events and activities, through Sunday, the official end of Chasco.

Today's schedule

5 to 9 p.m.: Native American Festival vendors open

5 to 10 p.m.: Chasco Carnival

6 to 10 p.m.: Dancing Under the Stars, Joe Walsh & the Serenaders band with Don Bailey; Tap N Dolls senior tap dancers; dance competition

In the Native American performance arena by the Cotee River:

6:30 p.m.: Ron Colombe, Native American poetry

7 p.m.: Robin Jumper, Cherokee history

7:30 p.m.: Katrina Big Mountain, women's Plains Indians history

8 p.m.: Paige Burgess, Kiowa/Comanche Southern Plains history

8:30 p.m.: Native American dancers

Thursday's schedule

10 a.m. to 9 p.m.: Special school programs at Native American Festival; all vendors open to the public

5 to 10 p.m.: Chasco Carnival

6 to 10 p.m.: Dancing Under the Stars band, dancers and dance contest

6:30 p.m.: Ron Colombe, poetry

7 p.m.: Robin Jumper, Cherokee history

7:30 p.m.: Katrina Big Mountain, women's Plains history

8 p.m.: Paige Burgess, Kiowa/Comanche Southern Plains history
