Cheap things to do in Tampa Bay

1 Creature Feature: Under the guise of education, kids get to see oysters, snails, worms, crabs and fish — all critters that play roles in the shallow water ecosystems of Tampa Bay. Best for ages 8 and older. It's from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Weedon Island Preserve, 1800 Weedon Drive NE, St. Petersburg. Admission is free, but registration is required. (727) 453-6500;

2 Friday Night Wine and Music Series at BayWalk: A sultry summer evening is the backdrop for free wine from Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, live music, dancing, raffles and more. 3 Summer Sunset Film Festival, 'Vertigo': See the Alfred Hitchcock classic Vertigo on a rooftop? Don't think so! Then again, Push Ultra Lounge could be a cool setting for the movie starring Jimmy Stewart as a police detective who suffers from a fear of heights. 4 Kids Matinee, 'E.T.': The adorable alien who loves Reese's Pieces, can't hold his liquor and knows how to go fly a bike, lands at the Beach Theatre on Saturday in the kid's matinee E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial (PG). 5 Back to School Fun Day: If you're still finishing up back-to-school shopping (hint: peace sign designs and Twinkle Toes shoes are so in), Seminole Mall is hoping to lure you in with games, music, prizes and other fun.
