Come, sit, stay and watch dogs set a record

Come, sit, stay as the Manatee County SPCA attempts to set the Guinness world record for the most dogs sitting and staying at one time. The event will take place on Nov. 17 at about 3:30 p.m. at the 14th annual Canine Christmas Festival at Bishop SPCA Animal Shelter Grounds, 5718 21st Ave. W, Bradenton. "The number of dogs with their hind quarters on the ground at the same time has to be over 100 in order to qualify for the record," a news release said. The public is invited to bring their pooch and get in on the record-setting attempt, which will be documented with a photo for verification by the Guinness officials. The Canine Christmas Festival runs 10 a.m.-3 p.m. with activities including pet portraits with Santa, raffle drawings, obedience and agility demonstrations, gifts and more. All dogs must be on a leash.
