We're in the middle of what might be the weirdest party week in Tampa Bay since Super Bowl XLIII. First came the grand opening of Tampa's Hard Rock Cafe, which brought performances by Styx and DJ Samantha Ronson and appearances by Joey Fatone, Nicky Hilton, Ali Landry and more. (See Page 73 for photos.) And in the coming days, even more celebrities will pop into our cozy little hamlet by the gulf. Here's a roundup. — Jay Cridlin cridlin@tampabay.com
Sasha Grey, Push Ultra Lounge
When one of the world's most famous porn stars comes to town, you take notice. Grey is booked to perform a DJ set, which is a little odd, but at least she's not dancing at Deja Vu, like other adult actresses do on the side. The event is Saturday; Grey is expected to go on about midnight. Entry at the door is free for ladies, $10 for guys. For details, visit pushlounge.com or call (727) 871-7874.
Neon Xtreme, Club Skye
This isn't a major celebrity party, but a slew of DJs and rappers will be on hand. Club Skye's "Neon Xtreme" party on Sunday promises "over 10,000 glow sticks, highlights, glasses and party favors." Considering the popularity of glow-and-paint parties in Florida, we would expect this to be packed. The guest list is stacked with local notables, including Aych, Acafool, DJ Smallz and radio DJs Alli That Girl and Buckwheat. But who will actually show up? Tickets are $10-$200; visit neonxtreme.eventbrite.com for details.
Derek Jeter, Hard Rock
Every year, the New York Yankee holds a celebrity golf tournament benefiting his Turn 2 Foundation — and it usually kicks off with a star-studded party at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. In recent years, guests have included Michael Jordan, Joss Stone, John Cena and Entourage's Kevin Connolly. So far, all we know is that Wednesday's launch party at the casino will feature a performance by Boyz II Men. The party is invite-only, but if you hang around the casino, you never know who you'll see. The tournament is at Avila Golf and Country Club on Jan. 20 and 21. For details, visit derekjeter.com.
'JERSEY SHORE'S VINNY, AJA WIREGRASS
Why Vinny Guadagnino from Jersey Shore is coming to Pasco is beyond us, but it's proof of how busy AJA Wiregrass in Wesley Chapel has become. Vinny will be at the club on Jan. 20 to host "Socialite Thursdays." There will be a Jersey Shore viewing party at 10 p.m. DJ Knex and DJ Kao provide the beats. For ladies, pre-sale tickets are $10; for guys, it's $15; for ages 18-21 it's $20. Call (813) 994-0002 or visit ajawiregrass.com.
