Five for the radar: Book chat with a pint or two; watch the Rays and drink; a magical dinner; yo, 'Jersey's' calling; and free cheese fondue

Leave it to an Irish yarn-spinner like Michael Connelly to hold a book talk at a pub. The Fifth Witness author appears at 7 p.m. at Four Green Fields in Tampa. Tickets are free with purchase of the book from Inkwood Books. Reserve books and tickets at (813) 253-2638. (Organizers are advising people to get there early to guarantee a spot at the book talk.)

Still in the mood to watch the Rays after their awful start and that whole Manny debacle? Or maybe you want to see Carl Crawford in that Red Sox uniform. Join Rich Herrera and the Rays Street Team at Hooters at Tyrone Square Mall for a Watch Party as the team takes on Boston at Fenway. First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. and you can enjoy drink and food specials all game long.

Do you always think it's magic when someone whips up an amazing gourmet meal with just the ingredients in their pantry? This isn't quite that, but it does involve a master magician, who'll pair with chef Chris Ponte at 6:30 p.m. for An Evening of Culinary Arts and Illusions. It's a benefit for the Blossom Montessori School for the Deaf.

If you haven't seen Jersey Boys at the Straz yet, this is your last week. It's been getting rave reviews all the way around. Find a performance and go.

Who knew it's National Cheese Fondue Day? Melting Pot restaurants are celebrating with free cheese fondue at its bay area locations today through Thursday. Reservations required at 411iscoming.com.
