With the weather so nice, here are two great play zones outdoors (and they're all free!):
The St. Pete Beach sunset celebration on Corey Avenue features lots of family-friendly Key West-style entertainment. Once the sun sets, bring blankets and chairs for Family Movie Night with Space Jam at Horan Park at 7:30 p.m. … At Curtis Hixon Park in Tampa you can get into the Tampa Museum of Art for free from 4 to 8 p.m. and then there's the free Friday Extra Concert Series with two local gems: Poetry 'n Lotion and Acho Brother. The show starts at 7 p.m.
One of the area's most popular events kicks off at 12:30 at Vinoy Park. The Tampa Bay Blues Fest has one of its strongest lineups ever, with "Best of the Fest" acts like the Robert Cray Band and Jonny Lang, plus a salute to New Orleans on Sunday featuring some of that city's top acts, like Irma Thomas and Trombone Shorty.
The Lightning plays its last regular season game against the Panthers, so that means a giveaway. The first 5,000 fans get a Lightning banner flag, and everyone gets free peanuts and cotton candy while supplies last. But the team hopes you'll give back, too. It's collecting donations to help the residents of Progress Village recover from last week's devastating storm. They're accepting nonperishable food, batteries, toiletry items, trash bags and bottled water, plus financial donations.
Forget American Idol and X Factor. You can watch 300 singers from all over the state compete in the Talent Quest Sunshine State Karaoke Finals taking place at the Doubletree Hotel in Tampa through the weekend. The warblers kick things off at 10 a.m. each day.
Here's something you can do after midnight: The Lowry Park Zoo is offering a significant discount for its summer camps. But you can only get it if you register online Saturday. Registration opens at 12:01 a.m.
