Pinellas students are on spring break this week, and there's a big chance of rain off and on through Wednesday. So what to do to keep bored kids entertained? We've got a couple of neat things to put on your radar:
Take a spin through this list of indoor play zones. They range from ice skating rinks to laser tag centers to trampoline emporiums.
Catch a talk by a sponge diving master. Nicholas Toth excels at making traditional sponge diving helmets. He's at the Tarpon Spring Library at 7 p.m.
This probably wouldn't appeal to kids, but Mom and Dad might need to get their batteries recharged. They can catch a talk by Linda Brown, author of Hey Boomers, Dust Off Your Backpacks. She's challenging baby boomers to recapture their 1960s backpacking style, this time on Social Security.
The Tampa Bay Lightning is down to its last three regular season home games, so if you've been procrastinating about seeing them in action, your chances are dwindling. A win in regulation paired with a Carolina regulation loss to the division-rival Capitals would help the team make the playoffs. They take on the Senators at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Pete Times Forum. And bonus: There's a Steve Downie Bobblehead doll giveaway to the first 5,000 fans in Lightning gear.
File this under boring but important to keep in the loop about: The Hillsborough County School Board is meeting this morning to discuss the school calendar.
