The Sunset Sound series is out in Largo, replaced by the Mosey Downtown Largo Street Fair. It features street vendors, crafts, food and entertainment. Best of all, it's free from 5–9 p.m.
Join Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzy and the rest of the Muppets at Clearwater Beach for the Sunsets at Pier 60 Sunset Cinema. Bring a blanket to watch The Muppet Movie because it gets cold with the wind whipping out there. But with gorgeous weather like this, we're sure the sunset will be worth a little chill.
Jazz lovers, there are two events Friday night that should be worth getting out for. Herb Snitzer will be a special guest at Art After Dark, the Tampa Museum of Art gathering that features libations and music. Snitzer, who just published the book Glorious Days and Nights about his time spent photographing some of the jazz world's icons, will talk about those photographs, some of which are on display at the museum. The event starts at 8 p.m. and is $10, or free for museum members. Across the bay in St. Petersburg, the Renaissance Vinoy Resort ballroom will be swinging with the sounds of Duke Ellington. Cost is $20, and it starts at 7:30 p.m.
Don't you hate that you usually have a chance to see the Oscar-nominated movies, but not the shorts? Tampa Theatre is fixing that by offering several nights worth of animated and live-action shorts. The live-action ones will be shown starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The animated shorts will start at 10 p.m. A perfect excuse for a date night, we say.
Wow, perfect timing for our big deal: Get a 45-minute harbor ride with the Tampa Water Taxi for just $10, a 50 percent savings. Go ahead, make that dinner reservation, too, while you're at it.
