Free day at bay area museums on Saturday

On National Museum Day on Saturday, admission is free to several museums in the bay area. Ah, if only it were that easy. Here's a guide:

Smithsonian Magazine Annual Museum Day: To get in these participating museums, you must print out a free ticket — no exceptions. Go to smithsonianmag.com, click on the ticket icon, fill out the form, and the ticket will be e-mailed to you. Each ticket is valid for two people. If you have more guests than allotted tickets, the Smithsonian website says those guests must pay full admission.

Included are Tampa Museum of Art (left), Cracker Country at the Florida State Fairgrounds, Henry B. Plant Museum, the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, University of Tampa Scarfone/Hartley Gallery, all in Tampa; the Ybor City Museum State Park; the Armed Forces Military Museum, Largo; the Leepa-Rattner Museum, Tarpon Springs; and G. Wiz. and the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, both in Sarasota.

Arts Alive Free Museum Day: No ticket is required to get into these St. Petersburg museums: the Museum of Fine Arts (above), the Dalí Museum, the Carter G. Woodson Museum, the Florida Holocaust Museum, Great Explorations, the Morean Arts Center, the Pier Aquarium and the St. Petersburg Museum of History.
