Halloween happenings

Halloween is creeping up on us, and already there are haunts around town ready to give us chills.

ZooBoo Haunted houses and trails, plus activities for younger children and free unlimited rides in the dark (carriage ride is $4). Starts Friday, continues select nights through Nov. 1. Halloween Horror Nights Universal goes ghoulish with three shows as well as rides and attractions. Friday through Oct. 5, then Thursday to Sunday through Nov. 1. 6:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday, 6:30 p.m. to midnight Thursday and Sunday. $69.99 (separate price from park admission). Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party After-hours, separate ticket event with trick-or-treating, parade, fireworks and some attractions. 7 p.m. to midnight, parade at 8:15 and 10:30 p.m., fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Friday to Sunday and Tuesday, plus select nights in October (Oct. 31 is sold out). Halloween Spooktacular SeaWorld Orlando opens its daytime Halloween festivities starting Saturday through Halloween, dressing up the park's walkways with "fantaseas" zones filled with meet-and-greet stations for characters. The activities include a Halloween-themed breakfast, music and trick-or-treat opportunities. Most of the activities are included in regular park admission.
