Wine tasting: Get ready for New Year's Eve with a sparkling wine workshop at Whole Foods. Learn about different types of wine, where they came from and what they taste like all while enjoying hors d'oeuvres served on silver trays. The event is free and will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at the Whole Foods at 1548 N Dale Mabry Highway. For information, call (813) 874-9435.

Singles party: Dateless on New Year's Eve? Don't ring in the new year alone. Join singles of all ages at the Shoresh David Messianic Synagogue at 4320 W Bay to Bay Blvd. at 8 p.m. on Thursday. Enjoy praise and worship led by the Sam Santiago Band, learn Israeli dancing during the free lesson and experience Mediterranean food. Seating is limited and reservations are requested. Stress relief: Take a break and relieve holiday stress with free yoga classes. The Lotus Room at 1101 W Kennedy Blvd. and the Lotus Pond at 6201 Lynn Road are offering the free classes as a gift to the Tampa Bay community. Call for submissions: Hillsborough Community College-Ybor is seeking submissions for its Eighth Annual Festival of the Moving Image. Films made from 2008 to 2010 from all genres are eligible. Categories include Florida student films, Florida independent films (non-student) and the Best Tampa Bay independent film (Hillsborough, Pinellas and Sarasota counties). Cost is $18 for student entries and $25 for independent filmmaker entries. The festival will be Feb. 17-21. The deadline for submissions is Jan. 12.
