HMS Bounty returns to St. Petersburg for a visit

The HMS Bounty will be coming home to St. Petersburg for one weekend, Nov. 10-11. The Bounty, one of the most famous ships in the world, was docked at the Pier for years as a tourist attraction until it was sold to Ted Turner in 1986. It is a replica of the ship known for the storied mutiny that took place in Tahiti in 1789 and was built for the 1962 movie Mutiny on the Bounty with Marlon Brando. Since then, the ship has appeared in a number of feature films and documentaries, including Pirates of Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest with Johnny Depp. During the ship's stay at the Pier in St. Petersburg, it will be open for tours from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. for $10 adults, $5 children, under 5 free. For information call (631) 584-7900. — Sharon Kennedy Wynne
