It's Latin Night Tuesday at Pasco's Chasco Fiesta

NEW PORT RICHEY — Latino music will be in the spotlight tonight at Chasco Fiesta in Sims Park, as the event celebrates Noche Latina (Latin Night) with Sol Caribe and Point 6 bands. The Native American Festival, carnival and food vendors will continue through Sunday, when Chasco ends.

Today's schedule

5 to 9 p.m.: Native American Festival vendors open

5 to 10 p.m.: Chasco Carnival

6 to 10 p.m.: Noche Latina (Latin Night) with Sol Caribe and Point 6 bands

In the Native American performance arena by the Cotee River:

6:30 p.m.: Ron Colombe, Native American poetry

7 p.m.: Robin Jumper, Cherokee history

7:30 p.m.: Katrina Big Mountain, women's Plains Indians history

8 p.m.: Paige Burgess, Kiowa/Comanche Southern Plains history

8:30 p.m.: Native American dancers

Wednesday's schedule

5 to 9 p.m.: Native American Festival vendors, speakers and dancers the same as today (see above)

6 to 10 p.m.: Dancing Under the Stars, Joe Walsh & the Serenaders band with Don Bailey; Tap N Dolls senior tap dancers; dance competition among members of the audience

Volunteers are honored at Chasco ball

Phil Chesnut and Evie Parks were crowned Friday night as King Pithla and Queen Chasco, honoring their volunteer service to the West Pasco community. They were honored at the 24th annual Chasco Fiesta Coronation Ball at Spartan Manor, proceeds of which go to the Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired and Blind. Both were nominated by the New Port Richey Rotary. Other nominees for King Pithla were Tim Sherrell, Bob Memoli, Tom Kehoe, Shawn Fawcett, Tracy Livingston, Lee Murphy, Dan Rock and Bruce Frey. Other Queen Chasco nominees were Candace Glewen, Vickie Chansler, Bonnie Howard, Kelly Armstrong, Tina Shelton, Jamie Mick, Victoria Barley, Dionne Blaesing, Julie Rogers, Patti Ammons, Laurel Robinson, Stefanie Ambrosio and Mary Julian.
